Veggie cauliflower pizza crust

This is a great way to substitute traditional pizza dough, whether it is for health reasons or wanting to try something new.

Pizza base

  • One head of cauliflower
  • 80g almond flour
  • 3 eggs
  • basil
  • oregano
  • salt
  • pepper
Cauliflower as pizza

Cauliflower as pizza

  1. Pre-heat oven at 200c
  2. Take the cauliflower florets off the stem, blend in mixer until fine like snow.
  3. You should have about 3 cups of cauliflower, add 80g almond flour and herbs/spices.
  4. Blend together with hands and make a bowl in centre of your mix.
  5. Whisk the eggs quickly together and add to the centre you made in your mix.
  6. Combine until it sticks together like a ball. This will be quite sticky.
  7. Flatten onto greased baking paper (otherwise it has a tendency to stick) and put in oven for 25-35min until golden brown.
  8. Chop vegetables for topping and add to oven in separate dish to bake.
  9. Take out the pizza and add toppings, put in over for another 10-15min.

Pizza sauce

  • 2 boxes chopped tomatoes (try to use the cartons instead of tins see why here)
  • few sprigs fresh basil
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • .5 onion
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • cold pressed virgin olive oil
  1. Heat olive oil and add garlic, onion and then tomatoes, let simmer and add herbs and spices.

Pizza topping
You can use whatever you fancy to top off your pizza.

  • .5 red, green, yellow pepper
  • 1 small squash
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • .5 red onion
  • musrooms
  • sundried tomatoes
  • add a packet of buffalo mozzeralla if you fancy/can tolerate cheese (cheese isnt really necessary though as there is more than enough flavour)
  1. For the peppers, squash, onion and garlic add to a ovenproof dish with some olive oil and roast in oven with the pizza base.
  2. Once the pizza base is done, add the pizza sauce and add the roasted vegetables and other toppings.

Garnish with fresh rocket, some parmesan cheese and a side of salad.

  1. I had som some friends over the other night, and made this. SO good, and so easy to make. Will definitely make this again. Note; I used chia seeds instead of eggs, worked perfectly.

  2. What a great new blog … and a fabulous pizza recipe.. Just made it and it is the most wonderful tasting pizza ever! I put oregano, pepper, basil and lime juice in the base mix… The topping was all organic.. This is what went into it: Olive oil, tomato puree, garlic, onion, leek, olives, spinach, red pepper, chill, zucini and loving care!
